SmartSys Telecom Rectifier Solution

SmartSys Telecom Rectifier System

The SmartSys is a -48Vdc rectifier solution for telecom applications. The system consists of a 2U rack housing comprising controller, dry contact interface, power distribution and up to 4 hot swappable rectifier modules of 1160W capacity.

The main functions are:

The intelligent controller allows for a fully configurable system with multiple LLVD, battery strings, load connections, sensor inputs, cooling control and more. Contact us with your specific requirements.

System Details

SC501 At the heart of the SmartSys lies the controller. This module contains the LCD, the status LEDs and navigation buttons.

Comprehensive communication options are also provided through USB, RS232 and Ethernet.

The simplest way to configure the unit and to monitor status is by connecting a computer via the Ethernet port, setting the network appropriately and opening up a web browser. All functions are available through a password protected hierarchy.

SC320Digital inputs and outputs are available. The inputs are external devices configured with either normally open or normally closed status contacts. Once set up, when activated will register an alarm within the controller. The digital outputs are open contact relays which again can be configured to be either normally open or closed. These contacts are used to trigger an external alarm panel, or used to start up an external generator.

Sensor inputs are also incorporated. These include a Humidity & Temperature probe, a water detection (flooding) probe and battery temperature probes for charging voltage compensation.

The default system has 7 output circuits, each with it’s own circuit breaker. Three circuits are on LLVD, and four are on BLVD. The LLVD and BLVD systems can be overridden if required. When AC power fails, the batteries will seamlessly take over to supply power to the load. As they discharge the battery voltage will fall. When the battery voltage falls to the level set on LLVD the unit will switch off all LLVD loads. When the battery voltage falls to the BLVD level all loads are switched off. This has the advantage of preventing damage to batteries through deep discharge.

LLVD can also be configured to be a time element if required, for example, shut off all LLVD loads after a certain period of battery operation. Priority loads should be on BLVD and lesser loads on LLVD.

The settings also include hysteresis, in order to prevent the load “chatter”. Once disconnected the loads will remain off until the battery voltage is sufficiently high.

A  load detect circuit is included and will raise an alarm if the circuit breaker is in the OFF position when a load is attached.

Rectifier in and outThe unit can house 4, 24Amp rectifier modules. Blanking plates are used where the total number of modules is less than 4. The load is split across each module equally, and each module can be “hot swapped” at any time allowing the other rectifiers to take over in the event of a rectifier failure or for maintenance. Since rectifier efficiency is at its highest when running at over 75% of load, you can set an ECO mode to switch off unnecessary rectifiers in order to maximise efficiency.
