TX Dual Input Isolated UPS

Product Range TX Dual Input Isolated UPS

International Voltage & Frequency Compatibility

The TX-D Series Uninterruptible Power Supplies are suitable for equipment requiring 230V nominal voltage but requiring to be powered from any international single phase power source from 100 – 240V nominal. The unit defaults to matching input frequency on output but can be set for frequency conversion mode if required, allowing a 60Hz input with a 50Hz output (or vice versa).

Isolation Transformer

The TX-D contains an internal isolation transformer that is electrically on the input side of the UPS System. This ensures the load is powered from the UPS inverter, removing any problems caused by transformer regulation issues. (Transformer voltage will fall as load increases, and this can cause issues for loads with high start up currents that may momentarily collapse the output voltage on the transformer, with the TX-D, the inverter maintains a stable output voltage.)

The isolation transformer provides electrical protection on it’s own, however coupled with the surge protection, filters and the online double conversion (VFI) topology the TX-D provides the highest levels of power protection possible. In addition, unlike other isolation transformer based UPS, the output of the TX-D is floating, i.e. there is no Neutral-Earth bond. This is essential for electrical safety.

Zero Leakage Current

Another advantage of the input isolation transformer, is that the internal UPS filters (that ordinarily filter to ground) are located on the secondary side of this transformer. This means that earth leakage is reduced to zero on the input side. This means that standards requiring very low touch current (eg patient vicinity applications) can be met.

What’s more, whereas in normal UPS the total earth leakage / touch current is the summation of the earth leakage / touch currents of the UPS and all attached loads, the TX will still have zero.

The units are tower mount with three button operation (ON / OFF / SELECT). A comprehensive LCD give UPS status and allows for configuration of the UPS directly from the front panel. The range of parameters is comprehensive:

The LCD provides at-a-glance confirmation of UPS status. Battery and load levels are shown as bar graphs in blocks of 25% increments. UPS alarm codes or OK if all is well. The select button will allow you interrogate input and output voltage, frequencies, loads, as well as battery voltage, battery charge and internal unit temperature.

The graphic display shows the power route through the UPS components. From here you can see if UPS is operating normally, in ECO, on Bypass, from batteries or is in standby.

TX1000D Rear

The TX1000D rear panel contains 8x IEC C13 outputs in two banks of 4. One bank is “programmable”, in that it can be set to switch off after a set time when the unit is operating on battery power in order to save battery life for more critical loads. This feature is entirely optional. The TX3000D has a hardwired input and output and is provided with both a 16A IEC C19 and 10A IEC C13 for convenience.

HID compliant USB interface is provided along with legacy RS232. HID allows the UPS to communicate directly with an Operating System Power Management System. Full monitoring and control software is also provided.

Surge Protection ports for RJ45/11 equipment are present to protect against “back-door” surges that may be present on telecom or network lines.

An intelligent port allows for the connection of SNMP or relay cards. SNMP allows communication with the UPS over a network. The relay cards allow for connection of the UPS to an external alarm panel. Alarms that can be set are UPS Fault, UPS Alarm, UPS in Bypass, Low Battery, UPS active, Mains Failure. These alarms can be set to be active open or closed.

Runtime can be extended substantially with the connection of an external battery pack to the external battery port. The TX-D series has an adjustable battery charge current up to 8A to allow for large battery banks to be connected without compromising on battery recharge time.
